History and traditions

When you explore Sicily's towns, you always have the feeling that you're travelling through time. You can literally touch the evidence left behind by the various peoples who have ruled the island over the years.

The Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spanish, and French: vastly different histories, cultures and traditions which have all combined to give rise to something unique and wonderful.

The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the Villa Romana in Piazza Armerina, the Arabic/Norman art of Palermo, the Baroque architecture of Ragusa, and much more!

The cuisine

One of Sicily's best-known and most renowned attractions is without a doubt its cuisine, which is one of the most varied in the world.
The only downside you may experience when returning from a trip to Sicily is that your bathroom scales might show that you're carrying a little excess baggage!

But how could you resist?
From pasta with sardines to baked pasta dishes, from aubergine caponata (stew) to involtini alla palermitana (meat rolls). Then there's arancini (rice balls), panelle (fritters), pane ca meusa (bread with spleen), sfincione (Sicilian pizza), cannoli (pastries), cassata (sponge cake) and frutta martorana (marzipan sweets). A feast for your tastebuds!
